Since the convening of the 1st Meeting of the 1st Council and the Establishment Conference of Yangtze Institute for Solar Technology (YIST), the institute has formulated its R&D roadmap based on the positioning of a "world-class R&D institution and testing platform". It has assembled renowned experts and scholars from home and abroad to form research teams in four key areas including solar cells and modules, and launched forward-looking research in multiple fields.
On May 28, the 2nd Meeting of the 1st Council of Yangtze Institute for Solar Technology (YIST) was successfully held. Director Shen Hui reported to the council on YIST’s latest research achievements and future development plans, and council members engaged in in-depth discussions on cutting-edge technologies in the photovoltaic industry as well as the development orientation of YIST.

Distinguished council members and specially invited experts attended the meeting, including Liu Qing, Director of the NATIONAL INNOVATION CENTER par EXCELLENCE and President of the Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute; Zhu Huazhang, Deputy Director of Wuxi Municipal Science and Technology Bureau; Chen Hanjie, Vice Mayor of Jiangyin Municipal People’s Government and Council Member of YIST; Fan Jihong, Member of the Management Committee of the NATIONAL INNOVATION CENTER par EXCELLENCE and Former Chairman of State Power Investment Corporation Science and Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd.; Gao Jifan, Chairman of Trina Solar Co., Ltd.; and Chu Junhao, Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Dean of the Institute of Optoelectronics of Fudan University, and Chairman of the Advisory Committee of YIST.
Shen Zhenjue, Deputy Director of YIST
The meeting focused on completing several key agenda items, such as the adjustment of council members, annual work summary and future planning, providing strong support for YIST’s development going forward. Shen Zhenjue, the leader of YIST’s space solar cell research team, was officially appointed as Deputy Director of YIST. This important personnel appointment and removal marks the further improvement and strengthening of the institute’s leadership team, and also signifies that YIST will further deploy its resources in the field of space solar cells, advancing the development of China’s space photovoltaic technology and aligning it with international standards.

Academician Chu Junhao provided clear guidance on YIST’s development positioning. He pointed out that despite the robust development momentum of China’s photovoltaic industry, relevant research efforts remain scattered across various research institutes and universities. Therefore, it is particularly crucial to establish a centralized, internationally influential photovoltaic research center. He encouraged YIST to achieve more substantive breakthroughs in addressing the common key challenges urgently faced by photovoltaic enterprises, and expressed his expectation that the institute would develop into an internationally authoritative testing organization, leading the global trend of photovoltaic technology development.
